Parks & Recreation "Aquatic Life" Program
The rivers, streams, and wetlands of the Lackawaxen area teem with remarkable wildlife just beneath the surface and along the water's edge. Join the National Park Service for a fascinating look at the aquatic mammals that call our waterways home — including beavers, otters, minks, and muskrats. Learn how each species plays a vital role in shaping and sustaining healthy riparian ecosystems right in our own backyard.
This program is open to all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Parks & Recreation "Hands-on Reptiles” with P.T. Reptiles
Get up close and personal with some of nature's most misunderstood creatures! P.T. Reptiles brings a live collection of reptiles for a truly hands-on experience that is sure to delight and educate visitors of all ages. Touch, observe, and learn about the incredible adaptations that make reptiles such successful and fascinating animals. This is one program you won't want to miss!

The Lackawaxen River and its tributaries are home to a remarkable variety of native fish species. In this program, the National Park Service introduces participants to the native fish of our area — exploring their life cycles, habitats, and the important role they play in the health of our local waterways. Whether you're an avid angler or simply curious about what swims beneath the surface, this program offers an eye-opening look at the aquatic life all around us.
This program is open to all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The Care Cabin food pantry is open the 4th Saturday of each month from 8am-10am (unless otherwise stated).

Parks & Recreation "Lenape-Native People” Program
Long before European settlement, the Lackawaxen Valley was home to the Lenape, the Indigenous people who first inhabited and shaped this land. Join the National Park Service for a thoughtful and respectful exploration of Lenape history, culture, and their deep connection to the natural world of our region. Learn how they lived, what they knew about the land, and how their legacy continues to be felt in the place names, landscapes, and stories of northeastern Pennsylvania.

Join the National Park Service for an informative program that takes a closer look at the snake species found in and around the Lackawaxen area. Learn to identify common species, understand their role in the local ecosystem, and discover how to safely and respectfully share the landscape with these remarkable reptiles.

Annual Duck Derby
Join Growing Lackawaxen this Saturday, July 11, for their annual Duck Derby Celebration at Veterans Memorial Park!
Bring the whole family out for an afternoon of community fun from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at 109 Scenic Drive, Lackawaxen, PA 18435. Enjoy delicious food, kids games, raffle baskets, a dunk tank, a Big 6 game for adults, a ball pit for the little ones, and the excitement of the Duck Derby winners announcement as the ducks race down the Lackawaxen River.
This beloved community event continues to grow thanks to the support of local sponsors, volunteers, and community members. We hope you'll join Growing Lackawaxen for a fun-filled day celebrating everything that makes our community so special!

America's 250th Birthday Community Picnic
Join us as we celebrate a monumental milestone in our nation's history! Lackawaxen Township is thrilled to invite all residents and friends to America's 250th Birthday Community Picnic. This special event promises an afternoon of community spirit, delicious food, and festive entertainment for all ages.

Focaccia Workshop at the VFW
Love fresh baked Focaccia but don’t know where to start? Join us on April 26th for an interactive Focaccia making workshop at VFW Post 5635 - 560 Route 590 in Lackawaxen PA. Come and enjoy an afternoon of bread, drinks and good company! BYOB! Tickets must be purchased to attend this event.
Ticket price includes a two-hour comprehensive workshop on focaccia making, two pans of Focaccia topped with your choice of various toppings (to be baked at home after the event), recipe card and a $10 donation to the VFW.
